Grassroot Edu for Sustainable Development
GESD for Schools
But first, what is ESD? ...
"ESD" is an acronym for "Education for Sustainable Development." It is an approach to learning, introduced by UNESCO, to provide students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary to contribute to a more sustainable future. The Grassroot Edu for Sustainable Development programme
focuses on students in government schools, free schools and marginalized
communities across Africa, equipping them with leadership skills, as
well as knowledge of sustainability issues and solutions.
Why partner with us?
- Sustainable development is a crucial global issue, and Africa is no exception.
- In 2015, the United Nations agreed on 17 Global Goals to address the world's most pressing issues. If the countries in Africa are to promote these goals, then you must recognize that education is a silver bullet and your school plays a significant role in shaping the future of the continent.
- By introducing ESD to your students, they develop into responsible citizens, making informed decisions and taking early action for a sustainable future.
- You'll be helping your students build critical thinking, leadership and real-world problem-solving skills. By the time they graduate, you've raised socially, economically, and environmentally conscious leaders, committed to making their communities a better place.
